Set among the rugged Cockburn Ranges, El Questro is a spectacular introduction to the Kimberley, with towering sandstone cliffs, palm-lined gorges and winding rivers.
This afternoon, board the Chamberlain Gorge cruise along the Pentecost River system. Take in the towering gorge walls as your local guide shares insights into the area’s geology, Aboriginal rock art, plants and wildlife.
Settle into your tented cabin at Emma Gorge, your base for the next two nights, surrounded by the striking red cliffs of the Cockburn Ranges.
Overnight: Emma Gorge, tented cabin.
Start the morning with a soak at Zebedee Springs, where warm thermal pools sit beneath a canopy of Livistona palms and pandanus. It’s a beautiful place to ease into the day, surrounded by the sounds of the bush.
After your morning exploring El Questro, enjoy a freshly cooked lunch at Emma’s Restaurant before setting off for Emma Gorge.
Follow a shaded creek bed on an invigorating walk of around an hour to Emma Gorge. The trail leads to a spectacular pool beneath a 70-metre cliff, with cool water and pockets of warm spring water along the edge.
Take time for a refreshing swim and enjoy the scale of the gorge before walking back. Tonight, return to your tented cabin for another evening beneath the Cockburn Ranges.
Overnight: Emma Gorge, tented cabin.
Farewell El Questro and head south towards Purnululu National Park, home of the remarkable Bungle Bungles. Look out for impressive boab trees along the way as we travel through the Kimberley’s vast outback landscapes.
Leaving the Great Northern Highway, we follow a rugged 4WD track through creek crossings and valleys, with sweeping views across the spinifex-covered ranges.
This afternoon, explore the distinctive orange-and-black beehive domes that make the Bungle Bungles one of Australia’s most recognisable landscapes. Walking among these formations brings their extraordinary scale into focus.
As the day cools, find a spot to watch the setting sun light up the ranges before settling into your cabin at Bungle Bungle Savannah Lodge, your base for the next two nights.

This afternoon, explore the northern end of the park at Echidna Chasm. Follow a palm-lined gorge into a narrow passage between soaring red sandstone walls, where the changing light brings out rich colours in the rock.
For another perspective, an optional scenic helicopter flight offers sweeping views over the Bungle Bungle Range. This experience is available at an additional cost.
Return to Bungle Bungle Savannah Lodge for dinner and another night in this extraordinary setting.
Overnight: Bungle Bungle Savannah Lodge, cabin.
This morning, farewell the Bungle Bungles and travel north-east towards Lake Argyle, our final stop in the Kimberley before crossing into the Northern Territory.
After the rugged tracks of Purnululu, the vast blue waters of Lake Argyle offer a striking change of scenery. Check into your lakeview villa and take a little time to settle in before this afternoon’s sunset cruise.
Board a sunset cruise to explore Lake Argyle’s open waters and dramatic shoreline. Your knowledgeable guides share stories of the lake and the region’s history, with opportunities to spot wildlife along the way.
Watch the late afternoon light spread across the surrounding ranges as the sun sinks towards the horizon. Afterwards, return to your accommodation for the evening.
