May officially starts the 'dry season' in the Top End. The temperatures are cooler, and the humidity drops. Rain becomes less frequent, and rivers start to recede. Warm days and cool evenings bring misty mornings on lily-covered billabongs. This time of year is known as "Yekke." For the local Binnij/Mungguy people, it's not the calendar but mother nature that dictates this change of season. Subtle changes in the environment, such as the bright orange flowers of the Darwin Woolybutt in bloom and dry winds, signal the dry season is here! This month also marks the start of Venture Norths award winning small group 4WD tours!
